Learning with Nurses

WHAT: For seven weeks this summer, the Southwest Philadelphia Library piloted a healthy living program. Student nurses, as part of a university course, visited the public library to teach kids about things like asthma, diabetes and general nutrition through activities and story time.

SO WHAT: The onsite children's librarian mentioned that more programming in the summer is always welcome. And the obvious benefits of health programs are all the more important when - as the nursing students would inform us - environmental factors are more influential on your health than hereditary ones.
