WHAT: As part of its Seattle Writes initiative, the Seattle Public Library (in partnership with Smashwords, a self-publishing ebook platform) is holding a contest which rewards the top three authors with circulation of their ebook in the library system, as well as some fanfare.
SO WHAT: A SPL librarian interestingly points out that the program is "a way to build a unique digital collection of local authors," in addition to fostering creative writing in general. (Unrelated note: I do like that typewriter.)
